What a fool believes! A well coordinated, composed music and lyrical masterpiece, which described the sufferings of a broken hearted man longing for the return of something that can never be fulfilled again. He foolishly discovers that, throughout the long years they shared, he was the only one believing in their love. While the vainglorious woman, shallow, narcissistic, egoistically wrapped in herself, bothered not to reciprocate these same feelings. Deadening the relationship over time.

I understand the moral center-piece of Michael Mcdonald's and Kenny Loggins' Doobie Brothers Grammy winning 1979 hit. It is a song of disheartening despair. A longing for something that is not seen. A yearning for a love long gone, but still idle. Hoping, in vain, that one day this former life shall return. It is a sad song, if you listen to it's words, and understand the true meaning. It is a song enveloped in the feeling of the time whence it was created. But the feeling, and meaning still hold true for any and all who take these lyrics and the message of this tune to heart.
